Definition of Digipak

Digipak is a style of packaging which is used for CD singles or specail edition CD albums. They usually include one or more plastic tray(s) to hold the CD securley attached to the inside, a book style of either paper board or card stock outer. Digipaks were originally created by MeadWestvaco, and now days are very popular for artists and bands.

The representation of the artist or band's music on the cover usually defines their genre of music. The digipak, music video and brand image usually only create one representation of the artist or band. The digipak is often used to get messages or themes across to the fans.
